New York Fashion Week Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear was bursting with leather and fur. From leather leg warmers at Phillip Lim 3.1 to fox fur wraps at Marc Jacobs, I am thinking PETA was working overtime this week. The runways featured amazing outerwear embracing mohair, fur collars and leather detail. Here are a few of my favorite looks from NYFW Fall 2013: BCBG Max Azria/Diane von Furstenberg/Oscar de la Renta/Reed Krakoff/Rachel Zoe

Five Favorites: Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day wear an outfit that creates confidence and makes you feel good. Whether you are going for a casual look, sweet or sexy, the best accessory to any outfit is confidence.

Build this confidence with color, shape or style. Wear a bright/bold color or flaunt your favorite body part – let your personal style shine through.

Heavy Metal: Metallic Trend

◍◍◍

The runways for Fall 2012 were ablaze with molten-like metals in gold, bronze, silver and jewel-tones. Metallics glimmered in the form of dresses, denim, skirts, shoes and bags. Interpreting runway looks into everyday life can be tricky. Embrace this trend with wearable pieces that will make an impact all season long.

Since metallics create such a bold statement, wearing too many at once can cheapen a look. Choose one key piece (cigarette pant, pencil skirt, statement bag) and let it be the star of the show. Pair these pieces with basic neutrals. Try a cozy knit sweater/slouchy boyfriend sweater for ultimate comfort and understated style. For a dressier look, pair with a structured blazer that will not draw attention from the showcased piece. Keep accessories basic or forfeit them completely.

Metallics offer a fun way to freshen up your look for Fall and update your wardrobe for a new season. Here are a few of my favorite pieces:

J Brand ~ 9202 Low-Rise Metallic Coated Legging: $249.00

Alice + Olivia ~ Connie Metallic Flounce Coat: $798.00

Tibi ~ Lurex Jacquard Strapless Dress: $485.00

AllSaints ~ Metal Pencil Skirt: $95.00

Diane von Furstenberg ~ Tonda Metallic Clutch: $395.00

Jimmy Choo ~ Anouk Metallic Leather Pumps: $650.00

Topshop ~ Jacquard Metallic Shorts: $60.00

Tech-Savvy Fashion: DVF Harper Connect Daybag

⋒⋒⋒

Fashion meets function with Diane Von Furstenberg’s Harper Connect Daybag. Perfect for the tech-savvy fashionista, this leather bag has a special built-in compartment that keeps your Tablet or IPad secure.

Harper’s geometric structure and decorative details feels luxurious and professional. Bold brushed-gold hardware, signature turn-lock closure and removable leather tassel makes me weak at the knees. Wear however you like, Harper comes adorned with both a chain shoulder strap with leather links and an optional cross-body strap for style and comfort.

The ultimate designer bag for the girl on-the-go.

NY Fashion Week Favorites: Fall 2012

⧪⧪⧪

New York Fashion Week packed-up Thursday to continue on the runways in Europe. Over the past eight days, the runways were enveloped with menswear-inspired tailoring, leather, military looks, fur, winter white, metallics and colorblocking. From beautiful gowns to leather and knits here are a few looks and shows that I favored: Theyskens Theory, Derek Lam, Oscar de la Renta, Badgley Mischka, Diane von Furstenberg.

Party Shorts: DVF Simca Metallic Shorts

✯✯✯

DVF Simca Metallic Shorts

For Fall Festivities, modernize the dress code in shorts.

A chic evening option, the Simca Metallic Shorts by Diane von Furstenberg are modern and distinctive. Cinched perfectly at the waist, the flat-front style is ultra-flattering. The metallic silver lamé adds texture and glitz to any ensemble.

Pairs perfectly with a silky blouse, tights and heels. Or add a white tee and tuxedo blazer for an effortlessly-chic look.

The Simca Shorts by DVF will brighten up any holiday party this season.

Shoe Symmetry: DVF Olivia

✯✯✯

DVF Olivia

There must be some sort of inertia that pulls me towards Diane Von Furstenberg’s new shoe creation each season. The Olivia wedge sandal is my latest obsession.

The architecture of this shoe is crisp and perfectly symmetrical. The wedge design adds comfort and stability. The two-tone feature is subtle and polished and the suede trim provides texture and refinement.

The Olivia is extremely flattering on. The porportions hit just right to lengthen the leg and slim the ankles.

This is a great addition to anyone’s collection, as it can be worn in any season. Paired with a sundress or wide-leg pants, the Olivia will ornament any ensemble.

Weekend Ensemble: Diane von Furstenburg Jhumpa

✯✯✯

Diane von Furstenberg Jhumpa

Keeping with the romper theme, this weekend throw on this Jhumpa by Diane von Furstenberg. This silk jumpsuit is a fun and playful option for weekend festivities.

The golden amber color is novel and exotic. The silk fabric is delicate and feels like butter on the skin. The shape is flowing and comfortable, perfect for a warm day.

Wear the Jhumpa on it’s own with flats or wedges or pair with a silk cardigan and chunky heels. This beautiful burnish color creates a great canvas for accessories. Style with a ton of gold necklaces and/or bracelets or plant a pop of color and with turquoise stones or red-beaded earrings.

Rompers are a versatile one-piece outfit that is great for weekend wear.

Have a wonderful weekend!
