In the Know: Fashion’s Night Out

⌾⌾⌾

Fashion’s Night Out, the kick-off event for New York Fashion Week, is a global initiative sponsored by Vogue and the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America).

In 2009, Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenburg, president of the CFDA came up with the idea for Fashion’s Night Out as a way to lure recession-weary consumers back into stores. During FNO, consumers are baited with limited-edition product, sales, celebrity appearances and performances.

Many of the stores involved will not only be hosting parties in lieu of celebrating fashion, but will also be supporting philanthropies. Retailers have partnered with certain charities and will be giving them a portion of the proceeds from that night’s sales.

The New York-based event has grown worldwide, with up to 5,000 events in the U.S. alone and 18 participating countries. The official hours are 6-9 p.m. on Sept. 6.

Fashion’s Night Out is a day to celebrate fashion and shopping… So get out there!

Summer Makeup Collections 2012

☼☼☼

Summer Makeup Collections are my absolute favorite. The bright colors and fun, free-spirited nature embody what the summer should resemble. The color-palette in these collections are always inspired by some exotic destination and being swept away to a beach with blue skies, hot sun, pristine white sands and tropical surroundings. The following six collections embrace summer with delightfully sunny shades, bronzed/sun-kissed skin and vibrant bursts of color.

The collection includes two bronzers, an eyeshadow duo, eye crayons, lipsticks, lipglosses, and nail polishes (all limited edition). It is saturated with luminous bronze, gold and copper shades with a pop of coral perfection.

The Croisette Collection interlace tranquil aquatic shades with soft pastels and shimmering silvers.

NY Fashion Week Favorites: Fall 2012

New York Fashion Week packed-up Thursday to continue on the runways in Europe. Over the past eight days, the runways were enveloped with menswear-inspired tailoring, leather, military looks, fur, winter white, metallics and colorblocking. From beautiful gowns to leather and knits here are a few looks and shows that I favored: Theyskens Theory, Derek Lam, Oscar de la Renta, Badgley Mischka, Diane von Furstenberg.

NYFW Spring 2012: Best in Beauty

✯✯✯

Glow-T’s Best in Beauty for New York Fashion Week Spring 2012 .

Best in Hair ~ Jill Stuart: Inspired by fairytales, the hair appeared feminine, youthful and bohemian. Kerastase added texture, volume and a significant side sweep part that gives the illusion of bangs.

Best in Makeup ~ Lela Rose: Inspired by sin city, this look is fresh and glamourous. Bare Escentuals transitions Fall’s metallic trend to Spring with a new pressed eyeshadow-quad used in the show. I am loving the combination of metallic-toned eyes paired with sun-kissed skin.

Best in Nails ~ Wes Gordon: Inspired by powerful women, CND nailpolish used the color Poppyfield, a nearly-neon, coral color. This shade is energetic and potent. Continuing a Fall trend of matchy-matchy makeup, a parallel lip and cheek stain is used.
